About Our Business

Mueller's started in 1874 as a  locksmith and machine shop in
downtown Detroit.  The founding owners actually  walked from New
Jersey to Detroit with all there belongings.  During that time Detroit
was gearing up to be the automotive empire it is today and there
was a need for the small job shops.  During this time we
discovered that along with job shop type services the printing
industry was also getting very big and there was a great need to
get the paper knives sharpened.  So with minimal investment we
started sharpening the blades by hand.  We had a simple system, if
a customer wanted his blades picked up, they would hang a
wooden mule in the window and the driver would get the blades. So
from the beginning to about 1968 we were basically a blades
sharpener  and machine shop, but that all changed when Rob
started to play ice hockey and we were sharpening the blades on
the Zambonis(R) we were also asked to  repair the Zamboni(R).
After some investigating  we got to be a Zamboni dealer in 1972.  
Since then we have added Jet Ice plus other items to the ice arena
mix.  

Currently located in Mt. Clemens MI, in a 23,000 sqft building.  We
have 7 full time employees and very modern blade grinders.
